Day 7 is the final long ride of the Tour de Kentucky. The route takes us from Kentucky Lake towards Paducah, Kentucky.
On this day, we visit states 6 and 7 as we cross the Ohio River just north of Wickliffe, Kentucky into Cairo, definitely the armpit of the great state of Illinois. After only a mile in Illinois, we then cross the mighty Mississippi River into Missouri. After nearly 700 miles, we will be thankful for the pancake flat terrain of this part of Missouri. This is the Mississippi River delta, VERY apparent on the topographical graph below.
We end our day in Sikeston, Missouri, home of another TdK favorite restaurant:
